A precious original Tandjung Sari hotel opened in 1962 as a four-bungalow extension to the family home of Wija Wawo-Runtu.

The scale of the property has purposely been kept small and today the hotel is a 26 bungalow holiday retreat steeped in old world charm unparalleled and unrivalled by other hotels. Set amidst lush gardens on the Sanur beachfront, overlooking the Indian Ocean, the individual bungalows have evolved from traditional Balinese architecture, construction techniques and materials.

Room Facilities
The interiors rely almost excluively on Balinese arts and crafts. The articulation of spaces and the rambling indirectness of the pathways a relaxed, leisurely-pace. The alang-alang (long grass) thatched roofs; the redbrick and warm browns of the woodwork blend in with the greens of the landscaping to provide an exotic visual image, superimposed over the ever-audible sounds of the nearby sea. Tandjung Sari retains the exclusive ambience of a private family retreat.

Every bungalow is as individual and special as the resident themselves. Each Balinese-style unit has its own private garden, with some offering the sensual freedom of an outdoor shower, large balcony or a bale. The two-storey beach bungalows offer breathtaking views of the ocean. All provide modern conveniences including air-conditioning, indoor bath & shower, telephones with International Direct Dialing facilities and a mini-bar.

Discover antique folk, primitive and classical works of art, as well as colonial Dutch accessories throughout the property. The garden courtyards and Balinese-style architecture creates a natural setting for the Tandjung Sari permanent art collection.
